Distillation: a simple, natural process*

Distillation
Steam passes through the flower, taking with it the plant's aromatic molecules, which will become the essential oil.

As the steam is cooled, it condenses back into a liquid with two phases.

Floating on the surface is the essential oil.

Below it is water, containing small amounts of water-soluble essential oil molecules. This is the floral water.
